For many of us in Alcoholics Anonymous, there is a date we never forget.
It may be the day we walked through the doors of our first A.A. meeting. It may be the day we finally admitted that alcohol had become a problem. It may be the day we stopped drinking and began a journey we never imagined we would take.
We call it our sobriety date.
At first, it might not seem like much more than a number on a calendar. But over time, that date can come to represent something much greater.
From Bill W.’s return to New York and the founding of Works Publishing, to national media breakthroughs and the first female member joining the fellowship, September holds a monumental place in the history and expansion of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Heartland Intergroup Speaker Meetings offer a unique window into that journey, transforming abstract steps into lived reality through the honest, unscripted stories of those who have walked ahead of you.
The Everything AA app offers A.A. members a convenient digital way to access Alcoholics Anonymous literature and resources wherever they are. Now under the stewardship of A.A. World Services, the app provides a trusted platform for connecting members with Conference-approved materials and resources that support recovery and carrying the message. Available on both iPhone and Android, Everything AA is a valuable addition to the fellowship’s growing collection of digital resources.
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about a theme for the 2030 International Convention celebration of A.A.’s 95th Anniversary in St. Louis, Missouri July 4-7, 2030. We invite you to send in suggestions which will be reviewed and select- ed by the trustees’ International Conventions/
Regional Forums Committee.
