Heartland Intergroup
What We Do
Every wonder what the Heartland Intergroup Does?
Heartland Intergroup of AA, Inc. is an organization serving as the Intergroup office for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in Florida’s Heartland region, including Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties. Based in Lakeland, Florida, it provides essential support services to local AA groups and individuals seeking recovery from alcoholism.
Heartland Intergroup plays a vital role in carrying the message of Alcoholics Anonymous and serving our local fellowship. Your support helps us provide essential services that many members may not realize exist, including:
- 24/7 Phone Line: Ensuring that the hand of A.A. is always there when someone reaches out for help—day or night.
- Meeting Information: Serving as the data curator for all A.A. meetings in Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties, and keeping this information accurate and up to date.
- Connection to the Meeting Guide App: Linking our local A.A. groups to the national Meeting Guide App so newcomers and members can find help quickly.
- Intergroup Website: Maintaining heartlandintergroup.org, a central resource for meeting schedules, events, and A.A. information.
- The Intergrouper Newsletter: Publishing a newsletter that keeps members in Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties informed about A.A. events, news, and recovery resources.
- Event Listings: Maintaining an up-to-date list of district events to strengthen unity and participation.
- 12th Step Opportunities: Offering members a chance to do service by volunteering in the office as a “first contact” for newcomers.
- Printed Meeting Lists: Producing and distributing printed schedules that newcomers often use to gather phone numbers and build connections in recovery.
- Central Office & Fellowship Space: Providing a physical location where members can connect, serve, and support each other.
- A.A. Bookstore: Maintaining a bookstore that operates with little to no profit margin, Heartland Intergroup offers AA literature, chips, and other recovery-related materials, making it affordable and accessible to all.
Your contributions directly support these efforts and make it possible for Intergroup to carry the message to the still-suffering alcoholic while strengthening our fellowship as a whole.
